An Army official says one of the suspects in a shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, on Thursday was an Army major and that he had two Soldiers as potential accomplices.
According to a report from ABC news quoting Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, the commander of III Corps based at Fort Hood, the suspected shooter was Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan. The suspected shooter used two handguns in the attack, Cone told the network.
Nadal is suspected to have acted with two other Soldiers in the attack, both of whom have been apprehended, ABC reported.
Twelve people were killed and 31 wounded in a pair of shootings Thursday at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas, the Army says. An army spokesman in Washington says the base has been locked down following the shootings.
