Mobile phone calls in Sydney's CBD will be blocked by a sophisticated counter-terrorism measure to prevent bomb attacks during US President George Bush's September APEC visit.

The president's motorcade will be shadowed by a helicopter equipped with signal-jamming equipment, News Limited newspapers reported.

Terrorists have used mobile phones to detonate remote-controlled bombs in Iraq and in the second Bali bomb attacks.

It is expected mobile phone calls will drop out in an area the size of a football field as the helicopter passes overhead.

The technology was first used by the US president when Bush attended the APEC summit in Pusan, South Korea, in 2005.

I just find it laughable that people actually put up with this bullshit. Bush isn't a god... he's not the king... his rights are not more important than everyone else's... If our priminister tried this, he'd get fucked in the next parliamentary session & the opposition would make a scandal of it... the papers/media would run with it & so on...

"The paranoia runs deep."

Hmmmm... another highly despised man in history was very paranoid, and he too was a fascist.

Is this a common thread I see?
